No Mow May

And why not let Earth Month just be the start?

Led by Plantlife, No Mow May urges garden owners and green space managers to avoid mowing their lawns throughout May, helping to boost local ecosystems and contribute to biodiversity preservation.

Our Sustainability and Estate Services Team wholeheartedly encourage residents to participate, aligning with our heightened commitment to biodiversity. Areas with reduced mowing throughout May and beyond will receive more frequent visits for litter collection, too.

How to get involved:

Joining No Mow May simply includes not lawn mowing throughout May. With over 20 million gardens in the UK, the collective impact of this action is huge, contributing to nature restoration and combatting climate change. Plantlife offers guidance on transitioning your lawn into a thriving wildlife habitat on their website, too.

Daffs

For those without gardens

We'll be enhancing wildflower meadows on identified sites, meaning you can still get involved.

And why not see how many daffodils you can spot? Presented by RHS, the Daffodil Diaries help paint the country yellow by mapping daffodils across the country. RHS scientists will use this information to help understand environmental influences on daffodils, buyer preferences and spread.

Locating these daffodils also helps aid their survival and even enable preservation of genetic material that could be valuable for future breeding of daffodils in the face of a changing climate.
