Did you know?
We’re currently in the process of appointing new contractors for major works and upgrades in our homes over the next 10-20 years, including roofing, kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors.
This year, we're investing a huge £74 million to enhance the quality of life for our residents, which will have a positive impact on 17,000 homes. We know that, as one of the largest housing associations in the country, we’ve an opportunity to shape the attitude towards future investment in social housing. And we can adapt our approach to provide the best possible service to you in the most efficient way.
How are we doing this?
Alex Sullivan, Co-creation Lead at Southern Housing, has been working closely with our Capital Investment Team and our residents to ensure that we’re listening to you every step of the way.
Through workshops, home visits, phone interviews, and online feedback forms, you’ve shared what works, what doesn’t, and where we can do better. By designing these contracts together with partners and residents, we aim to create a foundation that delivers efficient, consistent, and a resident-focused service delivery for years to come.
Your contributions have sparked innovative ideas and shaped the service improvements we’re making, ensuring these changes truly reflect your needs.
“As part of this new and exciting procurement, we’ve collaborated with residents using our seven co-creation principles, ensuring resident feedback is prioritised and acted upon. Co-creation allows residents and colleagues to drive meaningful change where it’s needed most.”
What happens next?
Even after contractors are appointed, we’ll continue to engage with residents to ensure the services stay aligned with our HEART values – putting Honesty, Efficiency, Accountability, Respect, and Trust at the forefront. Together, we’re not just improving services – we’re building stronger partnerships and a brighter future for all.
As part of this procurement journey, we’ve created a new resident procurement panel, giving residents a direct and influential role with shaping our future contracts. This collaboration will guarantee that residents’ insights remain central to decision-making.
If you want to be involved in future procurements, we’re still onboarding residents to join our brand-new procurement panel!
By joining this panel, you’ll:
- Be involved in our supplier selection, evaluation and interview process
- Contribute your views and ideas on what a good supplier looks like
- Draw on your own experiences of work in your homes and local areas
If you’ve a passion for making positive change, previous experience or are just eager to learn, we want to hear from you.
