With the warmer weather creeping in, it’s given the great outdoors a chance to come to life again. And with it, the wildlife is waking up.
From bug hotels to bird houses, there are many things you can get your hands on to make sure you’re giving nature a place to call home.
So, this Spring, why not make your outdoor space more inviting for our feathered friends by making our simple bird feeder?
Using items you’ll have laying around the home, it’s cheap, quick and so simple you can get the kids involved too.
You’ll need:
- A cardboard tube (ones left over from kitchen or toilet rolls work great)
- Peanut butter
- Bird seed
- String
How to:
- Lay your cardboard tube on a clean, flat surface
- Using a butter knife, coat the tube with enough peanut butter to cover the cardboard entirely
- Whilst wet, roll the peanut butter covered tube into the bird seed and repeat until this is covered
- Leave to dry
- Once dry, thread your string through the tube and find a place outdoors to hang. In trees or on a balcony railing both work great!
Don’t have string? It’s no big thing. Why not slot the tube over the branches of a nearby tree
