Farley Bank residents in East Sussex were fed up with speeding mopeds cutting through the estate and the continuous fly tipping.
Residents felt the estate needed general tidying and TLC, with steps proving dangerous and looking unkempt. So, we’ve been working closely with our teams and partners to make improvements.
Our Estate Team have jet washed the play area and meeting space, where an old mural is to be transformed. Our charity, Fresh Visions, is working with young people on the estate, to breathe new life into the space with a giant mural that they’ll design and paint. In addition, the steps are being repaired or replaced, if needed.
We’re also tackling the issue of fly tipping in the alleyway. We’re consulting with residents whose gardens back onto the alley, to see if we can extend their gardens and get rid of it.
Over the Easter holidays, we hosted some community events, including guerilla gardening (planting in public spaces) and sunflower planting. We’re pleased changes are starting to take shape and though there’s still work to be done, progress is being made for residents.
Alongside Hastings Borough Council, East Sussex County Council and the Police, our Resident Involvement Team has been holding regular consultation and fun feedback events for the past year.
