Resident Strategy Group

In April, the Resident Strategy Group, Southern Housing Board and Executive Team came together to plan for future priorities and improvements for residents. This collaborative effort ensures we’re aligned and focused on what matters most to residents, so we’re equipped to make the most impactful changes.

Scrutiny Projects: Making a Difference

Our panels have been hard at work on various scrutiny projects, delivering meaningful change across Southern Housing services. Here’s a snapshot of their recent achievements:

1. Tackling damp and mould
Their comprehensive scrutiny project on damp and mould is now complete, ensuring healthier living conditions for all residents over time. Read the report.

2. Boosting resident involvement:
The scrutiny project aimed at enhancing resident involvement has also concluded, fostering stronger community engagement, communication, and collaboration.

3. Revamping our website:
Currently, the Resident Scrutiny Panel is diligently working on helping us identify ways that we can improve our website, with a focus on making sure our website visitors can easily find the information they need. Stay tuned for exciting updates!

4. Service charges project:
Starting this November, the Scrutiny Panel will start a new project focusing on service charges. We’ll give you more updates as soon as we have them.

Regional Residents' Panels

There are five regional panels:

  • London
  • Kent
  • Essex
  • Midlands
  • Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, and the Isle of Wight.

The Regional Residents’ Panels have identified key priorities to focus on this year, ensuring they address the most pressing concerns in their areas.

Here’s what they’re concentrating on:

  • Resident involvement - empowering residents to have a say in local decisions
  • Repairs - ensuring timely and efficient maintenance and repairs
  • Major works - overseeing significant infrastructure projects
  • Clean and green - promoting environmental sustainability and cleanliness of estates
  • Social impact - enhancing the social well-being of our communities
  • Customer care - improving the quality of service provided to residents
  • Community safety - fostering a safe and secure living environment.
