As the temperatures are due to rise, staying cool during the summer months becomes increasingly important for both your comfort and your health.
Here are some tips to guide you through the summer months.
- Hydrate regularly: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated helps regulate your bodies temperature and keeps you feeling refreshed
- Limit sun exposure: Staying indoors during the hottest part of the day, usually between 10am and 4pm, is a great way to stay cool. If you do need to go out during that time ensure that you’ve got water, a hat and you apply your sunscreen with SPF
- Wear light clothing: Choosing lightweight and loose fabric clothing such as cotton and linen is also a great way to stay cool. Also be mindful about the colours you wear, lighter colours help reflect heat, whereas dark colours absorb it
- Watch your environment: Turning off lights and household appliances that aren’t in use makes a big difference to your home temperature. Also switching to LED bulbs is a good idea as they emit less heat than regular bulbs
