Did you know up to 30% of your home’s heat can escape through an uninsulated loft?
The good news is, having a well-insulated home not only keeps your home warm, it can also help to reduce your energy bills.
Here are some points for you to remember should we identify your home as requiring loft insulation.
It’s important to keep your loft clear
• If we contact you about installing loft insulation, please clear your loft and ensure it’s free of personal belongings before we arrive.
• This makes it a lot easier for us to efficiently install the insulation
• It also prevents blocking airflow that could create condensation and mould.
• To prevent damage to existing loft insulation, please refrain from storing items in the loft.
Please don’t position items directly on insulation
After we’ve installed your loft insulation, you should not store items directly on top of it.
If items are placed on the insulation, it will compress the material down and reduce your insulation’s performance by more than 50%, leading to greater energy and heat loss through your roof. The extra pressure on the insulation can also bring issues with the ceiling and room directly below. Correctly fitted boarding may be used in some lofts to prevent insulation being compressed and help with storage.
If you need storage, please contact the Retrofit Delivery Team and they’ll support with your request.
By properly managing your loft insulation and maximising its performance, you'll enjoy a warmer home and lower energy costs for years to come.
