Resident Policy Panel: what do they do?
Did you know residents play a key role in shaping our policies? The Resident Policy Panel carefully reviews both new and updated policies, ensuring they work in reality for you. Panel members read, question, and challenge proposals, making sure they reflect residents' needs before they’re finalised.
Recently, the panel has approved several important policies that will help improve services and strengthen our communities including Responsive Repairs Policy and Replacement Homes Policy. You’ll know if a policy is resident approved as it carries the stamp!
Do you think we could communicate better?
We know that keeping you in the loop with clear, engaging updates is important! That’s why our Resident Communication Panel plays such an important role in shaping how we communicate with you.
You said, we did!
Our resident-led group has been busy reviewing and refining key messages to ensure they’re clear, accessible, and truly resident-friendly. Thanks to their valuable feedback, we’ve made some big improvements:
- Updated complaints letters – Refreshed to be clearer and more supportive, rolling out in March 2025.
- ‘Putting It Right’ leaflet – Our revamped complaints guide is now live and available on our website.
- Better home visit letters – Covering surveys, repairs, fire safety, and more, now with supporting FAQs to help residents prepare.
- Website refresh – The ‘Your Rights as a Resident’ section has been updated for greater clarity.
- Shine Magazine input – Your resident magazine is shaped by residents so it’s relevant to you.
Want to make a difference? Join the Resident Communications Panel and influence the way we communicate with you. It’s an easy and flexible online opportunity; you can contribute as much or as little as you like!

Daisy is challenging social housing stigmas
A new G15 report, "Taking the Stigma out of Social Housing," highlights the challenges residents face and how we can change perceptions.
Led by the G15 Residents’ Group, chaired by our resident board member, Daisy Armstrong, the report launched at the House of Commons earlier this year. Nearly 3,000 residents, including many from Southern Housing, shared their experiences. Thank you to everyone who took part, your voices are making a difference!

Our resident panels have been sharing fantastic feedback about ReSolve, our new in-house repairs team.
At recent panel meetings, resident governance members from across the Midlands, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, and the Isle of Wight praised the team for their hard work in keeping homes and estates well maintained. They’re not just impressed with the improvements, they’re also keeping a close eye on services to make sure standards stay high.
A huge thank you to the ReSolve team for their dedication and commitment to making a real difference for residents!
