We're pleased to announce a topping out ceremony has been held at Rosemary House - a development bringing 249 new affordable homes to The Green Quarter, Southall, by 2024.
Councillor Surinder Kaur Jassal, London Borough of Ealing, was in attendance to celebrate the final beam being placed alongside the Southern Housing team and our partner, Berkeley.
The ceremony marked a major step forward for a key section of the development’s third phase. Already, The Green Quarter has delivered over 600 homes for more than a thousand residents, with over half those properties being affordable.
The residents at Rosemary House, which is named after the herb, will have access to range of community facilities. These include an extension of the new park, Central Gardens, and the newly-opened community and commercial hub, Parkside Yards. At this district, everyone can enjoy nature at the tree nursery and meadow; create art and ceramics at a new creativity centre; and meet, eat and unwind at the piazza. All Parkside Yards operators are independent and many of them are run by local people, including clothing designer House of A.E.I.O.U. and the grocery store.
More shops and facilities will open up in the coming months as the transformation of the 88-acre brownfield site continues.
We have been delighted to work with Berkeley on the affordable homes element of what has been heralded as one of the most ambitious regeneration sites in the UK, here in Southall. The site will provide not only 249 much needed new affordable homes in the area but also a real sense of community and connectivity with green space at its heart. We are therefore looking forward to being not only a good landlord to our residents in Ealing, but a committed strategic partner to the Council over the long-term.
It was fantastic to see additional affordable homes move a step closer and testament to our partnership with Southern Housing here in West London. At Berkeley, we regenerate brownfield land to create beautiful, successful places where communities thrive, we're committed to delivering diverse developments that can be accessed by people from a variety of backgrounds and The Green Quarter is no different.
I look forward to hearing about the experiences of the residents at Rosemary House when it completes in a year's time. Thank you to Ealing Council and the Greater London Authority for their support on this, and to everyone who attended today's event and celebrated this milestone with us and Southern Housing.
