We’ve published our 2024 environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report, sharing our progress on working towards a more sustainable and inclusive future. It covers our promises, efforts and progress, in relation to our ESG activities for the past year.
The report highlights our key achievements this year, including a 4% reduction in our greenhouse gas emissions and updating our Sustainable Finance Framework.
We’ve also made significant strides with other milestones, including:
Energy efficiency – 74% of our homes are currently rated EPC Band C or higher. This keeps us on track to meet our target of 75% by 2025, and all homes by 2030. (Applies to homes where the Decent Homes Standard applies and where practical, cost effective and affordable)
Sustainable homes - we improved over 6,000 homes under our general investment programme installing energy-efficient heating and upgrading windows, doors, and roofs
Improving communities – our Greener Broomgrove Project focuses on improving green spaces and wellbeing for residents in Hastings. It won the award for ‘Best Customer Impact’ at the National Housing Maintenance Forum (NHMF) Conference Awards in January 2024
Supporting residents – we provided advice, support, and guidance to over 32,000 people, and registered 10,141 people on support programmes, projects and courses
Cost of living – we gave 4,853 residents money guidance and cost of living support. And secured £8.3m added income, grants, benefits and savings support for residents
Social value – our partners delivered social value activity to the equivalent of £669k.
Sarah Smith, Chief Finance Officer, said: “Our ESG report reflects our commitment to stay aligned with evolving ESG expectations and best practice within the housing sector.
“We’re proud of our achievements thus far but acknowledge that there is much more work to be done. We remain committed to transparency, collaboration, and innovation as we continue our ESG journey.”
