Becoming an approved supplier

Once we have received a request from internal stakeholders at Southern Housing to create a supplier account or you have successfully secured a contract through bidding, the supplier is required to complete the questionnaire for policy compliance and upload the required information.

Below is our standard requirement for an approved supplier:

We only work with suppliers able to demonstrate a commitment to our values and compliance with our policies, including:

Detailed versions of all of our policies can be found in our Policy library.

  • Public liability - £2,000,000
  • Professional indemnity - £2,000,000 (depending on the contract nature)

If the insurance certificate doesn’t include the exclusions or endorsements, we may require you to provide the full policy for us and any sensitive information can be redacted if need be.

If you are a contractor / removal company or a consultant /inspector who will drill into or remove any part of the building or land managed, occupied or owned by Southern Housing, SSIP accreditation is required.

It stands for Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSiP). It's an umbrella forum for H&S accreditations such as Acclaim, Exor, CHAS, SafeContractor. We will validate supplier’s accreditation via this link.

You can always register for a free account on Proactis Supplier Portal, allowing us to promptly process your account setup as soon as we receive your request.

Procurement Act 2023

It is essential for us to conduct procurement activities in an open, transparent, and ethical way. We must comply with all the rules and procedures established by the Procurement Act which will come into force on the 24 February 2025.

All contracts exceeding the threshold set out by Procurement Act 2023 will be advertised on the Find a Tender Service (FTS),

For contracts anticipated to fall below the threshold under Procurement Act 2023, our internal procurement policy will apply. Details of the policy can be found in our Policy Library.

The Central Government has developed a variety of resources which provide more information and explain changes under the Procurement Act 2023.

If you are a supplier, you can now access each of the videos directly using the links below:
