We’re pleased to announce we’ll be installing new, full fibre, broadband network in our residents’ homes across East Sussex.
Earlier this month, our CEO, Paul Hackett joined Eastbourne-based Full Fibre broadband network operator and ISP Lightning Fibre’s CEO, Stefan Stanislawksi to celebrate signing of a universal wayleave agreement.
The agreement means our residents in areas including East Sussex, Wealden and Rother will benefit from having access to a faster, affordable, and more stable and reliable internet connection.
Our Digital Infrastructure Team have been working very hard alongside our providers to make this happen. So far, we’ve installed full fibre broadband in 28,000 of our residents’ homes.
Because of their efforts, we’ve been shortlisted for the Housing Digital Innovation Awards 2024 for the Best Asset Management Innovation Award and a finalist for the execution of our pioneering programme.
The programme started in 2020, benefiting both the organisation and our residents, enabling residents to access the fastest internet connectivity and helping them out of ‘digital poverty’ which 50% of those living in social housing face.
Southern Housing’s innovative Digital Infrastructure Programme delivers future-proofed full-fibre broadband technology to our entire portfolio meeting the demands of their residents whilst ensuring the highest levels of quality assurance and buildings safety are delivered. We’re leveraging additional benefits to support their digitally and financially excluded residents to ensure they’re able to benefit from the new technology available in their house - and all at no cost!
