We know how important it is to have a warm, comfortable home where our residents can thrive.
That’s why we’re investing in a retrofit programme to improve energy efficiency – bringing 80% of homes up to EPC band C by this year.
The work involves installing solar panels, heat pumps, and insulation as well as improving ventilation.
And it’s great to see how much of a positive impact it’s having on our residents’ lives.
As well as improving heating and general comfort – the energy-saving measures are drastically reducing bills.
We visited Northbourne, Godalming, where work by contractor EcoApproach is in full flow.
“I couldn’t wait to get it done. I’d heard really good reviews – how cheap it is and cheap to run. I used to put £40 fortnightly on my electric meter, and now I only put £10. It means I’m able to take my oldest boy away to Spain this year on holiday for the first time because I’ve been able to save up.
Residents have had their old storage heaters replaced with air source heat pumps, and solar panels installed.
Watch our video below to hear more about retrofit at Northbourne with contractor EcoApproach - and keep an eye out for more videos about the retrofit coming soon.
“Sustainability is a very important part of our organisation’s agenda – we want our homes to be warmer, more comfortable and more energy efficient for all our residents.”
Southern Housing is proud to be working alongside Eco Approach to deliver energy efficiency measures to our properties in Godalming. This will ensure our residents homes are warmer, more comfortable and improve their household energy efficiency by reducing their energy bills. Investing in projects like this also helps us to reduce carbon emissions and meet the governments net zero targets for 2035.
