Here’s what that means for you:

Reasonable adjustments are changes we can make to remove barriers that might stop you from accessing our services or living independently in your rented home.

We’ll consider any request for adjustments that help meet your specific needs, whether it’s to your rented home, our communication methods, or how we deliver services to you.

Here are some examples of adjustments we may be able to help with:

  • Changing how we communicate: Providing documents in alternative formats, like large print, audio or Braille. Read more.
  • Home modifications: Installing taps, handles, or other fixtures that are easier to use. Read more.
  • Providing assistive equipment: Supplying furniture or tools to support your mobility or independence. Read more.

You can request an adjustment at any time and we’ll work with you to explore the best solutions.

The Equality Act doesn’t define what is considered ‘reasonable,’ but we’ll always base our decision on factors like:

  • The nature of your disability and how it affects your day-to-day life
  • Whether the adjustment will be effective in meeting your needs
  • How practical it is for us to implement
  • The costs and resources involved and whether they are proportionate.

We’ll consult with you throughout the process to understand your requirements and involve you in any decisions about changes to your home or services.

Read our Reasonable Adjustments & Vulnerable Needs Policy

If you think you might benefit from a reasonable adjustment, here’s how you can let us know:

  • By contacting us directly
  • Through a family member or carer with your consent

Sometimes, our team may suggest adjustments if they feel they would support your needs.

For smaller adjustments, we’ll aim to make changes quickly. For more complex requests, we may need more time to assess and plan.
