Biodiversity is the variety of life on our planet – from micro-organisms and fungi to plants and animals.
Our pathway outlines our biodiversity plans to 2030. It includes detail around how we’ll promote nature recovery across 12% of our land portfolio such as woodland, grass and shrub areas, green roofs and waterways, covering 150 square hectares.
“It was clear through the co-creation of this biodiversity pathway that residents are passionate about the environment and want to support our biodiversity efforts. Continuing our work with residents is a priority for us and is reflected within this pathway.
Biodiversity underpins the stability and sustainability of our planet, and Southern Housing must play a responsible role in protecting it.”
We’re one of the first housing associations to launch a biodiversity pathway. We carried out surveys and organised workshops, creating targets to empower residents to support biodiversity at home, in communal gardens and in their communities.
