Following almost two years of work on overheating flats and fire safety measures, residents of Alexander Court were able to join contractor, Equans, for a farewell barbecue, to celebrate works being completed.
The extensive building safety works meant residents had to move out of their flats for part of the programme, so although it’s been a difficult time, the building is now being redecorated, and everyone is looking forward to it feeling like home again.
Many of the residents had got used to seeing the workers around the building, and had enjoyed chatting to them, so the barbecue was a great opportunity to say goodbye.
Pam Brayford, Scheme Housing Officer at the independent living scheme, said: “The residents had a great time at the barbecue, and were very grateful to Equans for putting it on.
“The workers have been around the building for a long time, so I know some of the residents will miss them being here, but of course, we’re all looking forward to getting back to normality!”
