When they moved to Hillview, love was the last thing on their mind but for Albert and Christine, from the Isle of Wight, it found them anyway.
The pair struck up a friendship at the supported scheme, bonding over their love of the going to the theatre and taking holidays, and they began dating a year later.
It was his smile that first attracted me to him. I can’t imagine life without him, I’d certainly be bored! We’ve got a great social life and we’re much more independent now. I really enjoy making our home together, cooking and cleaning, although he has to help with the cleaning too!
Last August they married at Ryde Castle Hotel, where some of the scheme’s staff and other residents joined them to celebrate, and they moved into their own flat together shortly after, in September.
“We’ve got two pet rats now, Remy and Rizzo. For Valentine’s Day, we’ll be going back to the place where we got married for a special meal!
They aren’t the only lovebirds who found romance in one of our schemes. Kathy and David, who live at Castillo Court in Birmingham, locked eyes over a game of Bingo one afternoon and they’ve been together ever since.
The pair, who also have a passion for travelling, have been hopping across the UK on mini breaks together since 2007. In particular, they enjoy seeking out cathedrals (for Kathy) and trains (for David) in the cities they visit, and they’ve had many a date on a station platform!
They both have their own flats but spend every day in each other’s company and always dine together in the evenings, David buys Kathy flowers every Valentine’s Day.
We had no intention of meeting anyone when we moved in, but we developed a special bond and became inseparable!
We both feel very lucky to have found each other late in life and feel blessed to share special moments together, long may it continue.
